'Pumpkin' Anyone? ~ Rural Thursday

This arachnid is commonly known as a...

wait for it...

Pumpkin Spider!

It's scientific name is

They are venomous.

This one bit my husband. Considering it was camouflaged in the leaves, it is not a surprise. Thankfully, it was a dry bite and he is fine....so far.

It totally creeps me out! Right now, it's housed in a canning jar awaiting its fate. Wonder what it will be?

Have you seen one of these?!

  1. Ewww!! I am NOT a fan of spiders. I have never seen one of these before. We have a lot of black widows in our firewood so we have to be careful when we gather it. I am very glad your husband is okay. I hope you're having a good weekend, my friend!

    Hugs,
    Stephanie

  5. That is the most beautiful frightening thing I have ever seen. Scary that it may hurt your poor husband. How can something so beautiful and with such a cool name be so evil. B
