Random 5 Friday

Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love, that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days.
~ Psalm 90:14 ~

1. The sky was such a lovely color on Wednesday morning. Seeing as it was only about 19* outside, I didn't venture down beyond the old dilapidated barn to get the shot so you'll have to excuse the ugly thing in the left corner.

2. This will probably be the only snow we see this winter. It wasn't much but it was pretty while it lasted. The chickens wouldn't come out of the coop, though. Guess they were smarter than I was :)

3. I made this Hershey's "Perfectly Chocolate" Chocolate Cake the other day. I'll just say that while I am a chocolate lover, this cake was just too much. My husband couldn't even believe that I would only eat a third of a piece (that was only cut 2" x 2" - I made it in a 9 x 13 pan) because it was so rich.

4. I think my cat is mental. She literally runs around like a crazy maniac at certain times of the day, then collapses in a heap and sleeps for hours.

5. By tilting my laptop screen way back, I can see the true colors of my photos. Otherwise, if the screen is upright, they look all washed out.

There you have my totally weird Random 5 thoughts for this week. Hop on over to a Rural Journal and see what others are sharing:

Random 5 Friday

Have a great day in the Lord!

  2. I have a feeling that most cats are a bit mental, but I love their antics. The sky in your photo is pretty, and I also like the old dilapidated barn - it adds a nice rural/rustic feel to the photo. Have a wonderful day!

  3. Beautiful sky! I am amazed when it has been particularly cold around here, the sky has been so blue and clear...drives me a bit crazy because it is so deceptive!

  4. I can't help myself laughing at your 4th random. I have one like that also!! And trust me, it's about the same time each day the mental case wakes up and acts 'not normal'.......then snoozes for hours.

    That sky is incredibly beautiful.

  5. What a gorgeous sky ... blue with the amazing clouds ... contrasted with the snow and the "ugly thing" in the corner -- I thought it was great for texture and contrast! I had a vet tell me that is a hormone spike -- when the cats go nuts. They all do it ... usually in the wee hours of the morning! There is a restaurant near me who serves "Mom's Chocolate Cake" (apparently a recipe from his mother). Everyone raves about this cake. I love chocolate and had enough at one bite. You aren't alone! ;)

  6. Good Morning Ann, I think the old building in the photo adds it's own charm. Can you believe this month is on it's last day!
Wow may you have a lovely Valentine's Day , maybe a tea with some friends. I am having a tea party for Amy's Birthday next Friday why don't you come! Boy she would be surprised. By the way my cat does the same thing sometimes, LOL
Hope you are well and all healed up!
Blessings to you and come visit again soon! Roxy

  7. Anne,
I would love a consistant 19* to wake up to! With no wind upper teens is comfortable here. Funny what we get used to. We got 2-3" of snow the night before last and am glad to have some of our brown covered up.

Before I was married I had a house cat that would do crazy and bounce off the walls. The future Hubby read that cats who nibble on spider plants get a high similar to humans on LSD. I had a spider plant too!

    Hope your weekend is wonderful.

  8. Photos on my laptop look a bit dark to me ... at least that's what I've found when I check myself using my iPad. Weird how different machines make photos and colors look different.

    Your sky photo is beautiful.

  9. That's a gorgeous sky shot! My dog does the same thing...we call it "puppy crazies". It is quite common in dogs, and is known as Frenetic Random Activity Periods (FRAP). Maybe cats have something similar!

I've been wanting to make that Hershey's Chocolate Cake ... now you got me wondering if it's overkill.
What a great shot .... love the old thing in the corner.
    Have a great weekend.

  13. Your sky photo is lovely. I enjoy pretty colors in the sky like that. - We are still in the 30's here so the 19 would have been cold to me too. - It snowed here today and crazy me took the dog for a walk in it.
Cats...mental...really! We have one that just likes to stare off into space at nothing in particular. We call her our "wonky" cat because she's just so weird.

  14. Our cats always start playing at night...preferable to them is the midnight hour. I love the shot...old thing in the corner and all. It adds to it.

  17. That cake sounds like one I could just nibble on all day instead of eating a big piece at one time....The picture of the sky is beautiful. Winter skies are so different and have such a cool feeling to them....

  19. Angus and Jack, two of our three indoor cats, do the "crazy cat" run around too -- so fun to watch! :)

Ugly sheds abound around here... part of the charm. :)

  22. What a lovely photo -- the colors and the light are beautiful! I can just picture your cat running around. One of mine jumps on the windowsill when I come home. He licks the cords of the blinds for several minutes. He's done this for years. Weird, huh? I would worry if he stopped :)

  23. Love your random 5 today. The photo is gorgeous and the chocolate cakes sounds yummy! My cat is the same way, crazy for about minute then sleeps the rest of the day! And though I don't have a laptop I do have a phone that I have to angle just the right way to see my photos. : )

    Have a great day Anne!
