Random 5 Friday

I decided I needed a bit of spring after all the snow and cold we've had this month, hence the new blog header and background paper. It's kind of girly but I'm a girl, so I'm going with it ;)

Mr Smith aka Smitty, at 9 months old
1. Smitty has some strange coloring to go with his gorgeous green tail feathers and looks nothing like he did as a chick except he is still the largest of all 26 chickens we bought last year. His favorite place to be is just beneath the bird feeder. Pretty smart, huh?

2. I saw Daffodils blooming at a neighbor's house this week, and shoots of them at my MIL's. Spring really is coming!

3. Daddy Long Legs by Jean Webster is a charming and hilarious book.

4. My not so annual eye exam was this week and I will be sporting new specs next week.

5. Warm, cold, warm, cold = sick. Need I say more?

  7. We must see a photo of the new specs. I don't think we will see daffodils until April this year.

  9. Anne,
Lovely rooster picture. What a nice looking chicken.

I am waiting for the notification for our next eye exam. My glasses frames are driving me crazy. Have fun picking out new glasses.

Hope you feel better soon and have a nice weekend.

  11. Gorgeous roo that Smitty! Are you getting any chicks this spring?

  12. He's a beauty Anne. We're allowed up to ten urban chickens here in the city but not roosters. (I can completely understand that...lol) I know what you mean about the sick. Chloe came home from her university with some sort of plague again this week with a sore throat and stuffiness in her ears. Hopefully we're getting close the end of the cold season. Oh well, tons of vitamin C and oranges and early to bed. Hope your weekend is restful so you and everyone can get back to good health.

  15. Hi Anne! Thank you for the Spring-y color in your blog. I am so tired of the cold, this is a little breather from the flannel and hot tea :)

Your Smitty looks like he doesn't take a lot of nonsense from anyone...I'd walk in a big circle around him just in case! I hope you feel better soon. Maybe the weekend can be your time to nap and relax.
    Blessings,
    Ceil

  17. Smitty is beautiful, and smart! I would LOVE to see signs of daffodils. Even though it will likely be some time before we will see a glimpse of them in Wisconsin, knowing that they are being seen in other parts of the country gives me hope!

  18. Oh my Smitty is gorgeous. Love all his colorful feathers.
My daffodils are popping up but it's a few weeks before they'll bloom yet.
I hear you on the warm/cold/warm thing. So far I've managed not to get sick but it's not easy with such weird weather.

  19. What a gorgeous bird! I'm so tempted to get chickens, except for the 6 month long winters we get. That bird is extraordinary! Must go drag out my Murray McMurray catalog again.
