About the Book
She’s rooted deep. He flies free.
Local-foods chef Claire Halford envisions turning Green Acres Farm into an event destination. Weddings prove trickier than she imagined when the first one comes with a ruggedly handsome brother-of-the-bride, who has everything but a fixed address. Oh, and faith in God.
Noel Kenzie loves the freedom his reforestation company affords him. Why worry about deep stuff like God and commitment when he’s in his prime? Except there’s a woman who might make it worth giving up his wings…and digging in some roots. If he dares.

I liked "... I've got a fair idea where the story line will take me. Of course, there are always surprises!"
ReplyDeleteThat's what I've always imagined about characters taking off, having the author hurriedly typing to keep up!
I would like to win a copy of Wild Mint Tea by Valerie Comer, and it was a "refreshing" book trailer too! Now for a cup of tea.... Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House

Yes, sometimes that is exactly what characters do. The polite ones tell me what they want to do while the story is in planning. Others like to toss hand grenades in (metaphorically speaking—usually) when things are getting too predictable.
DeleteRaising my tea cup to you!
Kathleen, I always find it fascinating how an author writes a story. Thanks for stopping by :)
DeleteEating home grown or organic food

Bless you, too, Chris!
DeleteLove fresh veggies! Have a great day, Chris.
DeleteIt's great to meet Valerie! Thanks for the intro, Anne. :) The book sounds like a good read. I learned that Valerie likes Blue Lake Pole Beans. I liked her suggestion on how she prepares them. I must try that with our beans sometime. Thanks for offering the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday,

Another tip about green beans and asparagus...exchange them in recipes. They seem to do well in each other's place!
DeleteHey Karen, I absolutely love pole beans! When I was growing up, my moma always made them in a pressure cooker but they are SO much better sauteed :)
DeleteSounds like a fun and interesting book. - It enjoyed reading Valerie's interview. I learned they have 40 acres (which is a lot of land) and grow 2 kinds of nuts, Walnuts and Hazelnuts.
ReplyDeleteHi Ida, I think Valerie's interview is one of my favorites. I live in the country and would love a Hazelnut tree!
DeleteThanks, Ida! 40 acres is pretty small for a farm, but pretty big compared to a town lot. It's a hard size to use effectively.
DeleteA garden growing, veggie eating, land owning, nut growing country girl. Valerie writs a good book and knows how to live.

I couldn't have said it better, Melanie!
DeleteAw, thanks, Melanie! It's an interesting life, for sure.
DeleteHmmm, since I know Valerie, it is hard to say if I learned anything new in that interview, except maybe that I didn't realize their farm was a full 40 acres! I admire her more now! martha(at)lclink(dot)com
ReplyDelete40 acres sounds heavenly! I think Valerie must be have a lot of energy to keep up with so many things. I don't know how she finds time to write but I am glad she does :) Thanks for coming by, Martha!
DeleteThank you, Martha! The respect goes both ways. :)
DeleteI think she must have a lot of energy too! Plus, when you see her cute active granddaughters....you know she must have some energy! =)
DeleteThat her and her husband enjoys geocaching,I hope I spelled that right.I have never done this, but it sounds fun.I am going start with a small organic garden this year.I love knowing exactly what I am eating. Thanks for sharing.I would love to win and read this book.jackie_tessnair@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteJackie, Best wishes on your organic garden. I planted strawberries this year. Hopefully my chickens won't get to them before I do :)
DeleteI like knowing what we're eating, too. That's how we started into this whole thing, really. I think you'll like geocaching. Give it a try!
DeleteI learned that she and her husband enjoy geocaching (which I've only heard of recently--maybe I need to get out more!) and organic gardening, and that her daughter is her book cover artist. :) Valerie, your daughter does a great job. I really like the cover of this book!
ReplyDeleteHi Jennifer, I want to try geocaching too. It sounds like a lot of fun. And I agree about the cover - it's fantastic. Thanks for stopping by and entering the giveaway.
DeleteThanks! I love having my daughter as part of the team.
