2022 is Gonna Start Out with a BANG—Action, Romance, and Suspense—in a NEW Series from Author Ronie Kendig!!!

COMING JANUARY 2022!!!
ABOUT THE BOOK

She cost him everything. Now, he’s forced to protect her.

Stone Metcalfe embodies the Metcalfe legacy—blue eyes, an unfair amount of good looks, and hardcore patriot-laced character. But a foolish lapse in judgment dismantles his name and career. Humiliated and furious, he retreats to his mountain lodge to hide from media hounds and eke out a new life. However, one phone call from an old Army buddy upends Stone’s best-laid plans.

Supermodel Brighton Buchanan had designers and men eating out of her hand until a terrible mistake trapped her in the soul-eating world of human trafficking. Years later, she is used by her captors to take down the best man she’s ever known. The man she loves. Hope lost, she’s unexpectedly freed—and thrown back into Stone’s life. Being forgiven is out of the question considering how much he hates her.

Believing danger and her are one wrong move away, Brighton will do anything to keep him from being ruined again—even if it means going back to that life. As everything is falling apart and threats mount against Brighton, Stone realizes forgiveness is the easy part. Protecting her—and his heart—is another story.

The Bridge to Belle Island by Julie Klassen ~ E-Book DEAL!!!

About the Book

After a humiliating mistake, lawyer Benjamin Booker resolves to never again trust a beautiful woman. When an old friend is killed, the senior partner isn't satisfied with Bow Street's efforts and asks Benjamin to investigate. Eager to leave London for a while, Benjamin agrees. Evidence takes him to a remote island on the Thames, a world unto itself, shrouded in mist and mystery. Soon he finds himself falling for the main suspect—a woman who claims not to have left the island in ten years. But should he trust her?

On Belle Island, Isabelle feels safe and leads a productive life, but fear keeps her trapped there. When Mr. Booker arrives with news of her trustee's murder in London, Isabelle is stunned. She has not left the island, yet she has a recurring dream about the man's death. Or is it a memory? She had been furious with him, but she never intended...this.

When a second person dies, and evidence shockingly points to her, Isabelle doesn't know who to trust: the attractive lawyer or the admirer and friends who assemble on the island, each with grudges against the victim. Can she even trust her own mind? While they search for the truth, secrets come to light and danger comes calling.

Review ~ One Plus One Equals Trouble (Love that Counts #1) by Sondra Kraak

Kindle Edition302 pages Published October 31st 2015 by Trail House Publishers

The one room schoolhouse isn’t big enough to hold thirty-four students, let alone the egos of two teachers. He can’t afford to lose the position, and she refuses to lose her heart.

Humiliated after her broken engagement, Claire Montgomery flees her comfortable life in San Francisco for a teaching position in Pine Creek, Washington, a dot of a town nestled in the rugged Cascade Mountains. She’s determined to succeed—for once in her life—only to discover, upon her arrival, that success will have to be won. Thanks to a school board error, two teachers have been hired.

When scandal forces professor Barrett Clarke from his position, he returns to Pine Creek where his uncle, chairman of the school board, sets forth an irresistible offer: teach one year in return for ranchland. For this would-be rancher, nothing is more tempting than resurrecting his childhood dream, and nothing can deter him from earning that land.

Except perhaps Claire Montgomery. Losing the battle for the classroom means losing the ranchland, but winning may mean losing Claire’s heart.

My Review ~ 4 STARS

I finally got around to reading a book by Sondra Kraak and I can certainly see why so many readers adore her books. One Plus One Equals Trouble is filled with spunk and sass and lots of laughs, while at the same time a longing for acceptance and grace is woven throughout. Some of the vernacular and ideas seem a bit contemporary but the story still resonates a lovely historical romance.

I bought my Kindle copy back in 2016. That's how long it sometimes takes me to get around to reading a book that I buy. It's FREE on KU right now if you subscribe.

Have you read any of Sondra's books? Let me know in the comments.

Have a blessed day in the Lord,

My Review 5 STARS!!!

Oh. My. Goodness. A friend of mine shared some highlights from this book on Goodreads that intrigued me. I borrowed a copy on KU and started reading it immediately. I had trouble putting it down and would have stayed up all night to read it, if possible. The story certainly wasn't what I expected. I was thinking it would be a fairly lighthearted, sweet Christmas romance but it was so much more!!!

If you're looking for an inspirational story that will leave you contemplating and perhaps re-evaluating your "once" moments, this is the one. Amanda Tru will be an author added to my must-read list. This book is a stand-alone, as are all the books in this series.

Let me know if you read it and what you think of it!

Have a blessed day in the Lord,

FREE Regency ~ Beauty and the Beast Retelling ~ Kindle Edition

Beauty and the Baron: A Regency Fairy Tale Retelling (Forever After Retellings Book 1)

A penniless maid determined to save her father, a broken baron bent on isolation, and the undeniable draw between them that could lead to happiness—or disaster.

Rose Sinclair has run out of options. With her father in prison and their bookshop sold to pay his debts, she has no choice but to turn to Henry Covington, the Baron Norcliffe. But the baron has more than earned his harsh reputation, and Rose must face his wrath in order to save her father—and herself.

Since the deaths of his parents, Henry Covington has isolated himself from society, ensuring the solitude of his estate with his deliberate callousness. However, when the beautiful Miss Sinclair appears on his doorstep, begging for a chance to repay her father's debt to him, a moment of weakness finds him offering her a position—as a maid in his own house.

They both soon learn that first impressions are not to be believed. Henry is surprised—and intrigued—by Rose's optimistic charm, while Rose slowly uncovers Henry's true self, his compassion concealed behind the pain of loss and betrayal. But when a shadow from Henry's past returns, their newfound hope is tested. They must decide for themselves who to trust and what they will risk for their happily ever after.

From the author of the award-winning ENCHANTED Christmas Collection, a royal romance filled with small-town holiday charm!

His Majesty Jonah Harrison Archer Davies VI has just endured the worst year of his life . . . and he's convinced he's no longer fit to rule Concordia. Not now . . . but maybe someday. Taking advantage of an obscure law that allows him to temporarily abdicate his throne, he transfers short-term power to his younger brother and retreats to Tinsel, Vermont. Perhaps in this tucked-away town, with its enchanting Christmas decorations and unusual media ban, Jonah will discover the peace and privacy he needs to heal, find his vision for his country . . . and somehow believe himself worthy of the crown.

Eight years ago, Rowan Bell dropped out of college and sacrificed her dream of traveling the world to keep a promise to her dying grandmother--to care for Tinsel's charming library. But the antiquated Cape Cod cottage that has housed the library for decades is falling apart around her, and Tinsel's city leaders have arranged to relocate the library. Desperate to keep her grandmother's legacy alive--and hopefully hush the longings of her restless heart in the process--Rowan hatches a plan to preserve the historic house. Help comes in the most unexpected form when a handsome bookworm--a king!--appears in Rowan's life.

Drawn together under Tinsel's Christmastime spell, Rowan and Jonah work to secure the library's future, even as they grapple with all the uncertainty in their own futures. But when a national crisis calls Jonah home, it's not only his claim to the throne that's in danger, but their two hearts which had only begun to hope again.

One Royal Christmas originally appeared in the 2019 novella collection Royally Yours. This is a standalone novella filled with romance, royalty and small-town charm.

Review ~ Miss Fanshawe's Fortune (The Brides of Mayfair 2) by Linore Burkard

Respectability was all she needed to win his heart…and precisely what she lacked.

Miss Frances Fanshawe’s past is shrouded in mystery. Raised genteelly as an heiress to a fortune, she is forced to question everything after her mother dies and leaves her with only a single clue to the money. Unless she can locate her father or otherwise prove her heritage, not only the fortune but her very respectability is at stake.

In line for a baronetcy, Sebastian Arundell has no time for sorting out questionable tangles for young women with dubious histories. No matter if they are young, appealing, and have ridiculously large chocolate eyes to melt a man’s heart. But when it becomes apparent that other people are after Frannie’s supposed fortune, he is drawn to investigate. As the search deepens, Frannie falls in love with handsome, proper Sebastian. But if it only proves what he suspects—that she's an illegitimate pauper—will all hope to win his heart be lost?

My Review
4.5 STARS

Sebastian would be the first bearer of the news, the breaker, so to speak, between the harsh ocean and the shore of Frannie’s heart.

Frannie Fanshawe is a likable girl and in a bit of a pickle as she’s been tossed out of her home after her 'aunt' dies and has little to no funds. She must figure out who her father is in order to claim a mysterious fortune that awaits her.

Sebastian Arundell, future baronet of Bartlett Hall, is rather a sublime sort. When his younger brother, Edward, brings Frannie to their doorstep, or breakfast table as the case may be, Sebastian is soon drawn into unraveling the cords of secrecy surrounding Frannie’s father. He’s sure she is illegitimate though and this poses a severe problem as he begins to grow fond of her.

I absolutely enjoyed Burkard’s second book in The Brides of Mayfair series! This is a clean Regency romance that churns with just enough tension to keep the story moving forward at a steady pace. It encompasses mild intrigue while descriptive language makes it easy to imagine. The characters make up a delightful menagerie and I found myself chuckling at their wittiness while enjoying the moments of mayhem.

I received an electronic copy of the book from the author. No review was required.

My Review
4 STARS!!!

Margaret Tavistock is quite a feisty young woman. In her overly enthusiastic way, she finds herself uttering an outrageous lie, thinking she won’t be found out. From that point on, it’s compounded by one after another, creating more than a few ridiculous situations. Gabriel Rempeare is a great hero! I admired his calm and patient demeanor (most of the time) with Margaret. They’re cousins who have been slated to wed as was often the case back then. He’s a captain in the British Navy and been gone a long while. Lots of misunderstandings abound between these two that cause some ridiculously funny situations.

Miss Tavistock’s Mistake is a good start to this new Regency series from Burkard. With lots of wit, charm, and a sweet romance, readers are sure to enjoy a few hours of respite.

I was provided an electronic copy of the book. No review was required. No compensation received.

Grace & Peace,

Review ~ Whatever Happens Next (Everyday Love Book 4) by Jaycee Weaver + Giveaway

Growing up in nowhere Oklahoma gave US Air Force vehicle maintainer TSgt Dyson what his momma calls itchy feet. His wanderlust has kept him from romantic entanglements for years, until the day an over-dramatic, strawberry-scented chatterbox slams into him and turns his world upside down.

Jenna Davis was a quintessential good girl, deeply rooted in her family and faith until one mistake three years ago changed everything. Unable to admit her failure, she goes through the motions watching everyone else live their dreams. But it’s hard to find her purpose when opening up to anyone—even God—feels impossible. Then she meets Dyson, who personifies the strong, silent type.

Dyson gets her to open up and begin dreaming again, rebuilding the trust she’s lost in men and especially in herself. But Dyson has something important to tell Jenna, and he knows it’ll be the end of everything they’ve built. After all, how can he ask her to leave everything and everyone behind when he can never stay?

The Everyday Love Series is a contemporary romance series set in Albuquerque, featuring ordinary people in lifelike stories that inspire, uplift, and share hope. Stories in which a very real God shows Himself in everyday ways to carry His people through any circumstance.

My Review
4 STARS!!!

“Just his luck, the first girl to spark an interest in months and she had to be three beans shy of a burrito.”

Whatever Happens Next is a fast-paced contemporary filled with some of the most humorous lines I think I’ve read in CF in a long time! It’s a seriously quotable book.

“Was she still talking? Good gravy, did she ever stop?”

On the surface, that thought might come off as rather rude but Dyson (he’s not much of a talker) finally has his interest peaked in a woman and she turns out to be a chatter box. Ever met anyone like that? ;-)

Weaver touches on a subject that not many broach and does it well. She also shows how we can have a tendency to beat ourselves up over sin when in fact, once we’ve confessed and repented it before our Lord, we don’t have to keep dwelling on it.

It’s a good thing I’m in quarantine because if I had taken this book with me out in public, people probably would have looked at me weird. I found myself questioning Jenna’s thought process and advising her out loud on occasion. That tells me I was I enjoying this novel for more than just the one-liners.

I was provided an electronic copy of the book from the author. All opinions are my own.

-----GIVEAWAY-----
This giveaway is for a Kindle copy of the book and can only be redeemed by US residents!
I am so sorry that Amazon isn't allowing international readers to redeem it but that's the way they roll sometimes.

Review ~ Call to Love by Mary A. Felkins

Prism Lux, November 15, 240 pages

Tracy Cassidy, a fiercely independent ED nurse, must choose between her dream job or staying in her hometown to help support her mother’s faltering ministry. Even if it means risking her heart in love with the kind of man she said she’d never marry. Why sign up to be Laurelton’s next cop widow?

Tom DeLaney, a hyper-vigilant cop and new hire from Texas, is wearied by years of failed rescue attempts to save his marriage to his ex. A free man, he moves to the foothills of North Carolina. Thing is, he hadn’t expected to fall for Tracy, his supervisor’s sister. But when his adolescent son is diagnosed with a chronic illness, he faces the risk of loving another woman with keep-out issues.

Fears related to the death of Tracy’s cop father and Tom’s inability to forgive the past threatens to sabotage any chance at love.

To trust again means surrender. Will they risk their hearts and answer the call?

About the Author

Mary A. Felkins is a contributor to writer’s blogs and on-line magazines. She also publishes a weekly story-style devo on her website. Call to Love is her debut inspirational romance. Raised in Houston, Texas – and forever a Lone Star girl - she and her husband Bruce moved to the foothills of North Carolina in 1997. They have four (adolescent to young adult-sized) arrows in her quiver. She can be lured from her writing cave if presented with a large, unopened bag of Peanut M&Ms. A surprise appearance by her teen idol, Donny Osmond, would also do the trick, though she’d likely pass out.

My Review
3 Stars

“Is that how you see me, a repeat offender with no hope of redemption?”

Above all, the message I took away in a Call to Love is redemption. It is available for all who call on Him. Felkins’ characters have some deep-seated issues–fear, anger, bitterness. Only God can deliver Tracy and Tom from these destructive emotions.

I really enjoyed Tracy’s mom. She is a wise woman who gently imparts strength to those around her through perseverance and compassion. Can you picture the following? I can.

With a deep stare, Mom peered over the top of her reading glasses. “When love is real, you’ll answer the call no matter the cost…” She squeezed Tracy on her arm, infusing wisdom into her veins. “If you choose to trust the goodness of God’s heart.”  (Location 984 of 3759)

See what I mean. Wise. Words.

The story is heavy with purple prose but many readers will still enjoy Felkins’ debut contemporary romance. I was provided an electronic copy from the author. No review was required. No compensation received.
