Tea Time Tuesday

Black Tea (decaffeinated) with sugar and almond milk served in my Wawel tea/coffee set that was a gift from one of my dear sisters-in-law several years ago on my birthday. I don't know the pattern of the china, after much searching on the internet but it has delicate blue roses with gold leaves, embossing, and gold trim.

The tray is one of my favorite finds that I picked up from a thrift store. Dating back to mid century, it's a handmade brass tray with a blue enameled Moire' glaze, designed by Harry Alan Kyes.

What are you enjoying this lovely Tuesday?

PW Kitchen Towels Giveaway

GIVEAWAY ENDED!!!

Note: Please read and follow the entry rules at the bottom!

I was shopping at Walmart the other day and happened upon this pretty
Pioneer Woman Wild Rose Kitchen Towel set on sale.

They have a nice vintage vibe to them, which is all the rage right now!
They are more red than orange red. Bad lighting, is my plea!

You can dry dishes or dust furniture with them.

The Wild Rose pattern is oh, so pretty!!! It's even trimmed in a sweet little rik-rac.
Oops...forgot to photograph that part. :)
The solid towel is waffle weave, which is truly a beautiful pattern!

I have a set of her towels in teal and yellow and red and love them!

Above is a PW mug I received in a Teacup & Mug Exchange I participated in last year. I also snagged a soup bowl and another mug last week that was on clearance to add to my collection.

I'm giving away the 2pk of Wild Rose Kitchen Towels to one of my blog followers here in the US
(contiguous states only...sorry!)

Entry Rules
1-Leave me a comment and tell me if you have any Pioneer Woman Dishware, Kitchen or Table linens and you'll be entered in the giveaway for the Pioneer Woman 2pk Wild Rose Kitchen Towels!

2-Leave an email address in a non-spammy format so you can be contacted if you win. No email, no entry.
3-Remember, you MUST be a follower of the blog to be entered. GFC is preferred but you can sign up for email too!

Life is kinda busy this week so I'll choose a winner next week! Share with your friends!

Acts 20:35 (ESV)

In all things I have shown you that by working hard in this way we must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’

'Vintage' Baby Girl Mini Album

It's been a while since I posted any craft projects. This is a mini album I made for my first granddaughter,
who is getting ready to turn 3!

Yes, I know.

But I really did make the album almost two years ago so I'm only behind in posting the photos. :)

And speaking of photos, my daughter took these as I didn't have a very good camera at the time. I totally forgot about them and found them on a shared drive the other day. That's what really prompted me to post them. Otherwise, I would have happily gone through life thinking I didn't have any pictures of it to share. *snort*

I purchased a canvas mini album from the craft store. I don't remember which one as it has been so long but if I find another one I am buying it too. I really enjoyed working with the canvas!

The pearls are Prima, and most of the flower embellishments are probably Prima, but I handmade a few flowers from the scrapbook paper, too.

I'm famous for finding odd craft supplies for a discount and then trying to piece them all together.
Another great place to buy supplies is Mighty Dollar.

Seriously.

They are cheap but name brands!

I made plenty of little pockets to slip things into, along with tags.

I love tags!

Okay, this picture looks a little green. I don't remember using green ink.
My go-to ink is Soft Suede by Stampin'Up!
Embroidery floss is magic. Really. It makes such a pretty addition to any page!

There's that nasty green tint again. Hmmm...could have been my editing but I'm not claiming it. :)
There's a homemade flower up there^^^. Those are fun to make. Just cut out a circle (doesn't have to be perfect), dampen it with water and wad it up, let dry, unfold and layer with another one, adding a pearl or button. VoilĂ , you are done!

More handmade flowers!

Of course it's vintage themed because that's what I like best!

Lots of tags for journaling! Prima pearls and stamping, oh yeah!

See, it really is Soft Suede around the edges. Looks way better than green. :)

I love the side view!!!

Mini albums are my favorite craft to make. I now have several more that need putting together, so I think part of my summer will be busy.

Oh, not for my daughter! Only one more for her baby who just turned one.

But I have a new grand nephew, and two new grand nieces!

Have you been creating anything fun lately? Do share!

I would appreciate your prayers. The flu bug has hit our family hard since Thanksgiving Day.

Random 5 Friday {Vintage} & Tea Cup Tuesday

***RE-POSTING***
for Tea Cup Tuesday because I am HOPING someone will recognize the pattern on the tea cup below! If so, please tell me in the comment section. THANKS!!!

I found this vintage 1950s Atomic Retro Ironstone dinnerware vegetable bowl in the "Blue Heaven" pattern made by The Royal China Company, Sebring, Ohio. Made in the USA. Of course I doctored it up a little in Picmonkey so it doesn't really have the writing on it. Isn't it adorable, though? I ♥ vintage!

1. Every day I make at least two meals from scratch. I love to cook but what makes it worthwhile is the love I have for my family. I get all warm and fuzzy knowing they are eating something they enjoy that I made especially for them.

2. I collect vintage tea cups whether they have a saucer with them or not. But I do prefer a saucer. There's something ladylike about using one. Or maybe I have been watching too much Downton Abbey ;)

3. This little beauty was found at the Habitat Re-store where I bought my vintage plate. At the time, I thought the tea cup and saucer matched but I wasn't really inspecting it too thoroughly. I just loved the little pink and lavender flowers with the wispy spray of sage green adorning the cup. Once I started washing it, I realized they aren't the same pattern. Close but different. I have been searching for the pattern name of the tea cup to no avail. I did find the saucer though. It's Apple Blossom by Haviland. I'm still searching for the tea cup pattern.

4. Speaking of tea, I bought some Extra Sleepy Time Tea the other day because I have had a slight bit of insomnia. I've drank regular Sleepy Time Tea in the past with good results. Well, let me tell you that if you want to stay awake all night, this is the tea for you! Honestly, I could not go to sleep. It was awful!!!

5. The pictures aren't great. Sorry about that! My son has been using my nice camera for his Digital Photography class so I am back to my point n' shoot. It was acting weird and constantly trying to focus. It was a miracle I managed these two without them being blurry like the other 20 photos I took!

How's your week been? Have you found any treasures to add to your collection?

Summer Sun{flowers} & Random 5 Friday

***Revised for Random 5 Friday**

My daughter and I went to Hobby Lobby this week and the shelves are bursting with autumn decor. When I started playing around with this photo it began resembling what I saw in HL. I know it's dark but I think editing is a mood thing.
At least, it is for me.

Textures used are Nancy Claeys Organic Paper and Kim Klassen Anna,
edited in Picmonkey

I really should write down what order I edit my photos in. I'll never be able to replicate this one but while I'm editing I go back and forth, deleting then adding. All I remember is adjusting exposure levels, applying KK's texture, adjusting some more, then using the Dusk feature and applying NC's texture with brushing and more brushing, then back to the exposure tab. Confusing, right?

This one I kept simple. Adjusted the exposure and that was it.

Do you keep a journal/log of how you edit photos? Any tips?

1. I have more energy after being on the Prednisone for 2 days than I've had in 2 years! I hope I get caught up on my house cleaning before the treatment is over :)

2. One of our roosters is beginning to make funky crowing sounds at thirteen weeks old.

3. Did you notice I said ONE of our roosters? Murray's sent us two extras. Wasn't that sweet of them, when I only ordered ONE? Yes, there's a little sarcasm here.

4. I am excited to meet my niece's husband and newborn son today. I haven't seen her in several years and missed her wedding. Can't wait to hold that precious baby!

5. My bacon is about to burn so I'm outta here!

 Have a great weekend!

Random 5 Friday

i ♥ vintage

The Carter Mansion is the oldest frame house in Tennessee, circa 1775, built by John Carter and his son, Landon. We just happened upon it when we were out for a day trip last summer and couldn't resist stopping to take a photo. It's nestled among some stately trees on a quiet street in Elizabethton, TN. If you're ever in the area, stop by and take a look at the old cemetery on the property. There are some graves from the American Revolution. For history buffs like us, it was totally cool!

1. The treasures you stumble upon by accident have the ability to hold some of the best memories.

2. I often wonder what our ancestors would think about all our gadgets we have nowadays.

3. The cheap seed packets of wildflowers have done better in the front yard than any of the plants I bought at Lowe's. And the annuals I bought and planted on top of my chicken coop are doing better than the ones I planted in the ground. Weird. Just weird.

4. I am way behind in visiting blogs and leaving comments. Seems life has picked up speed recently. Can someone slow it down? Please?

5. I wish it could be these temperatures all summer without so much rain :) I only had to turn the a/c on for a couple of the last days in June. So far in July, it has stayed off but the hot weather is coming...ugh!

Old timey or Vintage?

This disc plow has been used by a neighboring farmer for many, many years. It's seen a lot of dirt and rain, and maybe some other stuff we won't mention ;)

Not your typical Suburban but my father-in-law has been 'driving' it for ages. Pretty cool looking wheelbarrow!

Old timey or Vintage, either way these are some great pieces in their own right. Don't you think so?

I'm participating in Random 5 Friday where you share 5 random facts about you, your day, your pets, your kids, whatever!

My 5 Random Facts this week:

1. I like flowers but don't have a green thumb.

2. Room darkening drapes are the best.

3. I have 26 baby chicks that are now two weeks old and they need to move out of my kitchen!

4. My husband and I built our boys a tractor bunk bed when we moved to the country.

5. I like the ocean but not sand.

Hop on over and join in the fun!

Cool Phone

Found this awesome telephone at a yard sale this past spring for $1.00!

I love it
Pretty cool, huh?
