I dropped off the radar this month and I haven't regretted it a bit. On April 17th, our oldest son graduated from USAF BMT (Basic Military Training). We drove 21 hours to San Antonio, TX to share in the joy of this huge accomplishment in his life.

After 7 1/2 weeks, this is the moment I was waiting for...that first hug!
It is an overwhelming moment, to say the least.
This was taken just before saying farewell on Sunday. Our seven days flew by and the next time we see him, it will be late summer or early autumn. This moma heart is already missing him something fierce!
If you have a loved one in the Armed Services, thank them for me, would you? And to all those who have served in the past, Thank You from the bottom of my heart!
It's a great sacrifice and privilege to serve our country.
~Blessings for a joyful week~
*As time goes on, I will share more photos from our trip but I won't be sharing any face photos of our graduate. It's a security thing and they asked us not to, so I'm complying with the rules on this one.
Trust me when I say he is as handsome as can be in his uniforms! :)
Congrats to your son! My father served almost 30 years in the Air Force and my husband served in the Army for many years during the early part of our marriage. I hope your son does well!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Michelle! My dad served 21 years in the Navy. It's great to be a part of such an extensive military family.
DeleteGod bless him and thank him for serving!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
Deletei know that you are super cute - so your son is just too handsome. my Dad & Father in law are veterans. are you allowed to send care packages? like his favorite chips, snacks & notes? ( :
ReplyDeleteAwww...you are too sweet! Thank you to your dad and FIL! Yes, we can send packages. He was able to call me today and already has a list going ;)
DeleteAnne, I can only imagine this as I have never had to deal with having a child go off to serve their country. I do have memories of my brother going overseas in the Air Force. It was a time of peace and things were a little different back then. God bless your son for his service and you as well as you pray for him and wait for his return.
ReplyDeleteDebby, Thank you so much. I come from a military family but it is different when it is your child! I know he will be fine and is where the Lord wants him. He said it feels 'right'. :)
DeletePrecious, just precious Anne.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure your son is quite handsome, as you are quite beautiful.
What a joy for you as a mother, May God grant you peace as your son is distant from you.
Congratulations to your son, and I'm thankful for those who are willing to go and serve in our country.
My brother was in the navy many years ago. He is now with the Lord.
Have a blessed week,
Debbie

ReplyDeleteThanks, Carol! I sure will pass it along. Hopefully, I won't be so absent now that things seem to be settling down. I say that and for sure something break loose. :)
DeleteThat would be so difficult Anne. God bless your son and you as well and may God protect him. You must be proud of his accomplishments. I am thankful for our armed forces in Canada and the US.
ReplyDeleteHey Pamela, Yes, we are very proud of him and the choice he has made to serve our country. We know the Lord is watching over him and shaping him into the man he is supposed to be.
DeleteCongratulations to your son for completing his training. God bless him and keep him during his years of service. Our son-in-law finished his active duty with the Marines last August. I'll never forget the graduation festivities at Parris Island. Amazing experience and I'm glad you were able to go and experience your son's.
