Usually I post barns, birds or flowers for my rural post but I decided to step out of my comfort zone! This may not look rural but it is. We live in a small town...small. No fancy restaurants, mostly fast food. In fact, we only have two restaurants that would not be considered fast food. For our 31st anniversary yesterday, we went to our local (and very rural)....Fatz.
I'm not a partaker of liquor but I love how the bar lights reflect off the bottles and pouring spouts, creating so much shine and color.
Even the glasses were pretty hanging up there :)
And the manager was so nice. We had a coupon for a free Calabash Chicken dinner but my husband wanted a Reuben instead. Guess what? They gave him the dinner he wanted free and let us keep the coupon for another time! Plus, they served us a beautiful tasty treat afterwards. It was some kind of sponge cake with strawberry filling between the layers and topped with strawberry, whipped topping and drizzled chocolate.YUM! We dug in so fast, I forgot to take a picture. Doh!
There's something to be said about small town life. Maybe they would have done this is in a big city. I don't know. I've never lived in one and I'm good with that :)

Happy Anniversary!! My husband and I just ate at our first Fatz in June! I thought it was YUMMY!!
ReplyDeleteThanks. With limited choices, we eat there often and always get good food & service.
DeleteCongratulations on 31 one years!!! I like small town life but have lived and enjoyed big city time too...prefer small. That dessert sounds very good and what a nice gesture from the restaurant..that probably is a good example of small town life.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy visiting the city on occasion but always love coming home to the country!
DeleteHappy Anniversary! I love the way you caught the light in the hanging glasses! I love small rural restaurants - they just seem so friendly and cozy. What a nice way to celebrate an anniversary.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! I'm still learning about photography but I did kind of like this one.
DeleteHappy Anniversary...I've found it's not where we are but that we are together that matters......fast food, nice restaurant or anything in between is good when you are with someone that you love.....So glad you were treated with such kindness on your special day....
ReplyDeleteI have always been fascinated with colored glass and your shots are so beautiful. I love the way you caught the light dancing on the bottles.....
So true, Nancy! There have been plenty of years when we didn't have the means to go out to dinner and enjoyed the time together just as well.

ReplyDeleteSmall towns ate wonderful in many ways. My husband and i live outside Portland Oregon now. But we both grew up in small Maine towns. (Population about 3000.). :). There's just something about living where 'everybody knows your name.'. We love it here, but we're both lucky and grateful to have grown up where we did!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos! I love the bright shiny colors too! Happy Anniversary!!

Happy Anniversary Anne! Love the new photo strip on the top of your blog! The pictures of the bottles and glass are so pretty! Anne - what type of camera do you have? I am thinking of investing in a new one some day soon and wondering what I should look for. Have you had any lessons or do you just teach yourself? Hope you have been enjoying summer....it's about to wrap up around our neighborhood with the return of school.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kelly
Happy Anniversary Anne! My husband and I are rolling up on our 30th in about six months... a fellow contacted me and wanted to use a photo of my on his website for his restaurant, The HerbFarm in Woodinville WA. In exchange I received one certificate for a $225 meal at his famous eatery. I'm saving it for our anniversary and we will spring for another $225 meal in our celebration. It is a nine course dinner with six different wines... can't wait! LOVE the colorful bottles you've caught here, so pleasing to the eye! Thanks for sharing on RBH this week!
