Random 5 Friday

“The earth laughs in flowers.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson

1. I thought I spied something yellow from my vantage point on our deck. My son brought me my camera so I could zoom in and see what it was. Daisies!!! I wanted to be able to walk out into the field and pick some of them but I am quite pleased with my photo :)

2. Roasted Potatoes are good. Usually. But not when they are tossed with cayenne pepper and barbeque sauce first. Nope. Not at all.

3. "The chickens are revolting!" That's my favorite line from Chicken Run, the movie. But it is also what's happening in our coop. The chicken run fence is now being raised to 8 ft instead of staying at the current 4 ft. because certain persnickety hens don't want to lay IN the boxes. They want to fly OUT of the run and lay them behind the barn in the weeds. We wondered why egg production seemed to be down all of a sudden. My husband scouted around and found a nest of 20 eggs! Off to buy more fencing and wire quickly commenced. Hopefully, on Saturday the job will be finished and those escapees will once again be cooped.

4. My husband fixed a laptop screen for a friend's ex a couple of weeks ago. Said friend told ex that my husband should be paid. Now we are the recipient of a nice Outback gift card. Anyone else need a laptop screen fixed? :)

5. I have discovered I love Muddy Sneakers Ice Cream in a chocolate lined waffle cone!
Rocky Road used to be my favorite.
Not. Any. More.

What's your favorite ice cream? Has it changed over the years?

  2. Muddy Sneakers?!! Okay then...I think I'll stick with my favorite tho, Black Walnut and it must be Blue Bell brand! LOL I don't think I'd care for those potatoes either. Why bother fixing potatoes when the overwhelming taste of pepper and BBQ sauce takes away of the flavor of the potato?!! Love the daisy image!!!!!

    1. Vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce is the only way to eat it in my book. I didn't know it had an official name :)

  6. The daisies are fleabane if I am not mistaken. I love any kind of daisy.
Favorite ice cream? It's always been butter pecan but strawberry is up there mighty close. I dislike vanilla unless it is on top of a piece of pie!

    1. Yes, Daisy Fleabane. They grow wild here and with total abandon. I love them! Butter Pecan is high up there on my list of top ice cream's to eat. Love it.

  7. Muddy Sneakers Ice Cream? Oh, i wish my dad were here - HE LOVED Ice Cream . . Rocky Road on his favorite list - although, i admit, I doubt there was any ice cream he didn't consume and enjoy . . BUT, he DID have a list of favorites . . I don't remember him ever saying "Muddy Sneakers" - I'll have to search it out . . in his honor.

Thank you for sharing with all of us - Happy Friday!

    1. It might be a new flavor, I don't know. Our local ice cream parlor carries it made by Hershey's and I believe it actually comes in 1/2 gallons at the grocery store. Give it a try. I'm sure your dad would have liked it since he was such a connoisseur of ice cream :) Have a great weekend!

  8. Muddy Sneakers Ice Cream....I have never heard of that flavor, but it sounds interesting :) I love just about any kind of ice cream, but I think Cookie Dough and Mint would be in my top 5 flavors.

What ornery chickens you have! I hope all goes well with raising the fence :) Happy weekend, my friend!

    Hugs to you!

  14. this is the second time today that I've said I don't have a favourite, and followed by how odd, the only favourite food stuff I have is our Canadian Ontario non exported Hawkins Cheesies, is that not too weird! I seem to just love almost everything the same...out on our walk today we saw a huge clump of similar daisy like flowers hanging precariously out over the river...all of these flowers were finished end of September...

    1. Now I love cheese, too. Too bad yours isn't exported :)

  20. Yes, your flowers are lovely! Where do I get Muddy Sneakers ice cream? I have no idea what it is but I bet I'd love it! My favorite is mint chocolate chip. Used to be peanut butter and chocolate but I made the mistake of reading the calorie count :)

    1. Let's not read the calorie count on Muddy Sneakers, ok? ;) Try the grocery store or an ice cream parlor that sells Hershey's ice cream. Hope you find some!

  21. Hi Anne! We have the exact same one on the side of our house. My last post features our latest landscape marvel - the watermelon tree. Check it out! I think you will love it! And who makes Muddy Sneakers Ice Cream? What is it? We have been indulging on Apple/Rhubarb/Blackberry/Rasberry Galette served warm with a scoop of Pumpkin Spice Ice Cream.....Oh my! It is heavenly. Thinking about you and praying for you this weekend Anne. You are a kindred sister.
    Hugs,
    Kelly

    1. Thanks Kelly! Muddy Sneakers in our area is made by Hershey's but I saw online where it is under other labels, as well. Your Galette sounds really tasty and something my husband would enjoy! Hoping you have a blessed weekend, my friend.

  24. You have a nice camera and a steady post to steady it. YOu did a wonderful job with the daisies. We raised chickens at home when I was there. My growing up duty, one of them, was to bring all the young chickens inside who had decided to stay out and sleep in the trees. We had to lock them up at night to keep them safe from the coyotes. The hens we kept in all the time.

My favorite ice cream is Blue Bell Light Homemade Vanilla. It is a Brenham Texas product that also goes into surrounding states up past Kansas City. We had some tonight as a bed time snack. Sorry I am sooo late in returning your comment. Please come back again.

    1. We keep ours cooped or in the run all the time, except for the escapees :) But once the fence is done hopefully they won't be in danger. They wander back to the coop by dusk so it easy to round them up and put them back in. Always have to do a head count though.

Blue Bell ice cream is delicious and a good vanilla is always welcome on a hot cobbler :) Thanks fro stopping by and commenting. I appreciate it. Have a blessed Sabbath!
