Our candle was lit

On Sunday, December 8th, we lit a candle in remembrance of our Amy and other children, siblings, brothers and sisters who have gone too soon. This worldwide event was sponsored by The Compassionate Friends who help families after the loss of a child.

Psalm 45:13-15
All glorious is the princess in her chamber,
with robes interwoven with gold.

In many-colored robes she is led to the king...

With joy and gladness they are led along
as they enter the palace of the king.

My heart goes out to all those who joined in and lit a candle, as we obviously have a sorrowful event in common. My prayer for each of us is that even in the midst of the darkest hour imaginable, the Light will penetrate and bring about healing and restoration in our lives.

  2. Dear Anne....one tiny light brings such hope into the dark places in our lives.
I think of my childhood song, 'Jesus bids us shine with a pure clear light, Like a little candle burning in the night...'

  5. I hadn't heard of The Compassionate Friends, what a lovely tradition for you. I have a few friends and family that have lost a young child, I imagine that this circle is far too large but there is strength in numbers what a connected way of remembering Amy.

  6. One of the hardest things in life would be to lose a child. I'm glad you found this organization and tradition helping to remember those children lost too soon. A beautiful tradition.

  7. Dearest Anne, my heart goes out to you and your family! I think of you often in the loss of your precious daughter and I am sure lighting this candle was bittersweet - sad for the reason of lighting it, but also sweet to be able to think of your dear Amy and remember the wonderful moments with her.

Love, hugs, and prayers to you, friend!
