Giveaway ~ Heart of Mercy by Sharlene MacLaren

 ~ Giveaway has ended ~

About the Book

Mercy Evans has known a great deal of heartache and hardship in her 26 years. She lost her mother at a young age and was only 16 when her father was killed in a brawl sparked by a feud with the Connors family that spans several generations. When a house fire claims the lives of her two best friends, Mercy is devastated, but finds comfort in caring for their two sons, who survived thanks to a heroic rescue by Sam Connors, blacksmith in the small town of Paris, Tennessee. Yet the judge is determined to grant custody only if Mercy is married. Mercy loves the boys as her own, and she’ll go to any lengths to keep them—but what if that means marrying the son of the man who killed her father?  Set in the 1880’s, Heart of Mercy is the first book in MacLaren’s new Tennessee Dreams series.

  7. Sounds like a book that has Mercy dealing with choices that can be tough. Love and strength from God can/will get you through. Was just talking to someone going through some tough decisions. It's hard to see people you love struggling. Seems like that is what Mercy is going through as she makes the tough decision to help these little boys.

    1. Hi Judy, Sharlene is such a gifted writer and brings about a precious story in Heart of Mercy. She shows how leaning on the Lord and trusting in Him is the ONLY way to make it through.

    2. Anne...I LOVE Sharlene's writings. I have read everything...(some more than once) other than her latest book. The theme of this book just really hit about choices and sometimes being tough. Spent hours on the phone yesterday listening and trying to offer counsel to one of our children who has two major life changes at the same time. My advice ..keep praying. Trust. It will work out. I just need to work on leaving my worries and cares at the feet of Jesus. I find myself getting anxious over the choices that need to be made. Again....Trust. God's got it under control and He will do a better job arranging life than we could ever hope.

    3. Judy, You are 100% correct! HE is the only one who can show us the Truth and guide us through life's journey. It sure isn't always easy but His way's are ALWAYS right!

I grew up in western North Carolina, and many of my relatives are from Tennesee. On top of this, I'm a history teacher, and historical romances are my favorite novels. I would look forward to this new series and would love to win this one to get me started.
