I thought I would post a few photos from the weekend we went to San Antonio to see our son graduate from Basic Military Training. We had a great trip for our first time to Texas! It wasn't anything like I imagined. It was even better!
Hugging my Airman for the first time was truly the most emotional moment the entire weekend.
I've had many hugs in the past 20 years and felt these arms embrace me but to know that he has now become an American Airman, whew! It is overwhelming.
On Thursday and Sunday, the new Airman have base liberty only, so we walked around and looked at all the cool memorials they have on base.
Especially when I got that first hug after 8 1/2 long weeks of very little communication! Trust me. It is not like when a child goes off to college. I have experienced that and there is no comparison.

This one is dedicated to the Military Working Dogs, canine heroes in our Armed Forces!
My favorite military suspense author, Ronie Kendig, and her family adopted a retired MWD who just happens to be a gorgeous Belgian Malinois. If you haven't read her books, you are missing out! |
These were all taken back in April and hopefully I will get around to sharing more photos over time.
Our Airman has been in Tech School for 7 weeks now. Every text and phone call telling me what a great life he is living makes my heart happy. He loves the USAF!
This is one of my favorites ─ my son stepping into his new life as an American Airman.
HUA!
God Bless the USA!

Beautiful post Anne. It must have been a difficult 8 weeks or so since you'd seen and held your son. No matter how old or where they are in life, they are our child. May God bless him in his service to your country.

DeleteHi there!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this post immensely as I'm a very patriotic soul, and I'll be praying for your son's safety while he is in the military.
Btw, I just found the comment that you left on my blog (nearly a month ago) and wanted to apologize for not visiting here sooner.
Your comment went to spam so I didn't see it, so sorry. Have a wonderful week!
No problem on the not getting here sooner. I'm one of those bloggers that honestly pays no attention to that! :)
DeleteI appreciate the prayer for my son, though.
