Rebecca has an extra copy of Rachel Hauck's newest release, The Love Letter, and is graciously offering it to one blog follower who leaves a comment. Read and follow the directions below so your entry doesn't get discarded! I've had several people recently that did not follow the directions for giveaways and I did not count them.
Paperback 352 pages Thomas Nelson (June 12, 2018) |
With the colonies at war
and his country divided, Hamilton Lightfoot must choose sides: Fight
for the British Crown or for the Independence of America. But after
witnessing the death of his family at the hands of redcoats, he fears
he’ll fight for revenge instead of honor. On the verge of a great
battle, he pens a letter to Esther, the woman he loves.
Esther Longfellow is in love with Hamilton, but her father is a loyalist, living in upcountry South Carolina and working for a wealthy British lord. When the Revolutionary War comes to her doorstep she is forced to choose between devotion to her father and her love for Hamilton.
Chloe Daschle is the daughter of Hollywood royalty—a great director and an Oscar-winning actress. Yet her career has taken an unexpected turn: She’s the queen of death scenes. Trying to break out, she accepts a supporting role in a revolutionary war film. But she longs for the perfect role and the perfect real-life romance. Does happily ever after only exist in the movies?
After a life-changing tragedy, MIT graduate Jesse Gates decides to leave his life behind and move to LA to try his hand at acting and screenwriting. When he finds a page from one of his ancestor’s letters, he becomes consumed with the love he finds there. Determined to help his grandfather find happiness at the end of his life, Jesse writes and sells a screenplay based on the events surrounding the lost love of previous generations.
When Jesse meets the woman he has cast to play Esther Longfellow—his grandfather’s one true love—the stories of all four collide across time and space. The love letter from the past might have more power to affect the future than any of them could have imagined.

Let's talk Love Letters!!!
The first 'official' six months of mine (Anne) and my husband's courtship was done completely through writing letters as he was living in Haiti, working for a missions organization. I still have every single letter we exchanged!

My husband and I wrote many love letters to each other before we married. He was in the army and I was in college. Since we didn't get to see each other as much as we liked, our letters got us through. That was over forty three years ago.

DeleteMelanie, That sounds a lot like us! Did you save your letters? I have often thought about making some sort of scrapbook or shadow box with them.
DeleteI did save my letters and cards and have made a small scrapbook with some of them.
DeleteHey, Anne! Love, love, love Rachel Hauck's books! This one sounds intriguing! The first love letter I ever received was from my romantic little boyfriend when I was 14 yrs old. lol But my fave was written by hubby when he worked out of state for awhile when we hadn't been married long. I still have it, and every one he's written since. I've never been much of a letter writer so I doubt whether I've written more than a handful. I know. My bad.

Hey Diana, No bad, girlfriend! I think it's sweet that your husband wrote one first. How romantic is that? :-) Letter writing has sort of gone by the wayside. I miss it!
DeleteI know what you mean, Anne. I recently sent a card to an author friend who has been particularly good to me. I enclosed a little note & it actually felt very strange to handwrite. I always type or tap. lol It truly is more special to someone when you send something handwritten, than just a private message on Facebook.
DeleteCongratulations, Diana!!! You are the winner! I'll be sending you an email. 😁
DeleteHello Anne! I've not written or received a love letter. Thank you for the chance to win a copy of The Love Letter.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win Rachel's new book. I always enjoy her books.

Hey Pam, Did you save any of them? I have all of ours BUT... if either of us had ever written anyone else, I would have thrown those away! It's been so long, I don't remember! hehe :-)
DeleteYes, my husband and I did write letters to each other. It was during a time we didn't know if we would end up being together. It is amazing how God works. We will be married 26 years in October. jumpforjoy at gmail dot com
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Joy!!! Did y'all have a big celebration this past Oct? Our daughter gave us a small surprise party for our 25th. That was a while ago ;)
DeleteI couldn't say I've ever written or received an actual love letter. My husband and I like to leave each other sweet little notes around the house every once in a while=)
ReplyDeletepattymh2000(at)yahoo(dot)com
Hey Patty, We do that too!!! I am sooooo bad about saving those things. Needless to say, I have lots of pieces of paper floating around. :-)
DeleteI have never written a love letter but I miss getting snail mail from friends!

Unknown, I know what you mean! Snail mail is better than bills. :-)
DeleteI don't usually get comments from an 'Unknown'. I don't recognize your email address. Are you a GFC follower of Stuff & Nonsense? If so, what name? Do you have a blog?
Yes I have written a love letter and I must say George Strait done me wrong! After hearing his love song Check Yes or No when I was little I wrote the boy I had A HUGE CRUSH on a check yes or no love letter. He ran away from me, literally! Even YEARS later when I would run into him he would run away from me! LOL! Yeah I can laugh about it now, but it took a while for my little broken heart to heal! ;)

Amada, That is such a traumatic encounter for a youngster. So glad you can laugh about it now!
Delete:) I can't lie once upon a time there were tears shed, but The Lord taught me that if he had been the one for me he would have been "man" enough to handle that I liked him! ;)
DeleteMy husband and I did send each other cards and letter while we were dating. After we got married and we were relocating and in different cities before moving he would send me really nice cards and letters.
ReplyDeletediannekc8(at)gmail(dot)com
Dianne, That's so sweet! I hope you saved some of them. :-) My husband and I don't go a day without texting each other. I appreciate technology for convenience but there is nothing like a handwritten note.
