I'll be {missing} you...

in all the old familiar places.

I really miss seeing the cows dotting the landscape
but the view is fabulous anyway!

Tuesday {Textures}

Texture - Softly Collection, 0331 by Nancy Claeys
~Psalm 37:23~
The steps of a man are established by the LORD,
And He delights in his way.

~Psalm 37:39~
But the salvation of the righteous is from the LORD,
He is their strength in time of trouble.

My daughter has several Camellia bushes in her front yard and I couldn't resist taking a few photos of these beautiful and delicate looking flowers. One is a pale pink and the other fuchsia. I have wanted a Camellia bush for years and she happily dug up a section with a tap root to give me. Hopefully next year or the one after, I will have one of these gorgeous bushes in my own yard!

Tuesday {Texture}

Boston Collection texture Nancy Claeys 0416-3

This cluster of blooms is on a bush in my yard but I have no idea what type of bush it is. The blossoms are so pretty and 'dreamy' looking. If anyone has any idea what it is, please let me know.

Even though the photo is slightly out of focus, it's still beautiful.

Hope in Misery

Bachelor's Button
~ S.C. Edgarton ~

The cloud may be dark, but there is sunshine beyond it;
The night may be o’er us, but morning is near;
The vale may be deep, but there’s music around it;
And hope, mid our anguish, bright hope is still here.

Still here, though the wing of dark sorrow is o’er us,
Tho’ bitterness dregs every cup that we drink;
With a smile in her eyes, she glides before us
To yield us support when we falter or sink.

Blessed hope! like a star on the darkness of ocean,
Still gleam o’er the track where our destinies tend;
And guide our frail hearts from this sea of emotion,
To havens of peace where our sorrows will end.

Tuesday {Texture}

'Susan' texture by Nancy Claeys @ A Rural Journal
~further edits with PicMonkey

When I saw this forgotten barn on the hill, looking lonely and desolate, my mind pictured how it once might have been; surrounded by trees full and bursting forth with the fruit of the season.

Alas, all things come to an end. The trees are bare and no longer producing. But they did. Once upon a time.

More than one {Texture}

Willa texture - Nancy Claeys

My son happened to spot this railing in back of an old church in town as we were driving past (or is it passed?) and thought I needed to get a picture. Boy, am I glad he's a good spotter for me! I love this heart shaped wrought iron banister. There are so many cracks and chips and worn places. I'm sure there have been many people who have ascended and descended these solid steps, gliding gracefully down while sliding their hands along the cool iron. Children have perhaps played on here, crawling and scampering underneath the rails having a grand time!

Varied colors and textures in the gravel and grass make it a pretty picture, too.

Do you make u-turns and go back for a photo op?

Tuesday {Textures}

While the original photo was ok, I really wanted to bring out the  various tones in the wood and trees. So with some highlighting and application of a texture, I'm pleased with the final outcome. The colors are richer and complimentary, with a softer vintage feel.

I couldn't resist taking a photo of my neighbor's Dogwood Tree blossoming on our first teaser spring day. The skies were absolutely a gorgeous Carolina Blue and the breeze was warm. I love this one just the way it is...

but y'all know by now I am going to give it a go with a texture ;-)

It reminds me of an old fashioned postcard with a dreamy feeling! I almost can't compare it with the original, there's such a difference to me.

What do you think?
