Sunday afternoon provided a plethora of photo opportunities, starting with this one. My first hummingbird at the feeder and also the first time I have taken a photo of one. Let me just say...it's not easy! But she perched right up there and drank her fill, allowing me to get several shots. I was/am ecstatic!
Then this lovely Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly landed right on a flower in front of me. I held my breath because they're tough to get clear photos of, too!
After these two exciting captures, I decided to take advantage of the changing shades of light and try to get a couple of shots of the few flowers left in my yard.
My old fashioned roses are still blooming. Pretty, huh?
As the sun was dipping further down toward the horizon, I couldn't resist capturing the golden light on these sunflowers.
I finally managed to get the natural sun flare! No need for Picmonkey in this one...
...or this one J
And in case you're wondering why there is an ugly pinwheel in the corner, it's there for my 2 yr old grandson. Every time he gets ready to leave he pulls it out of the ground, hides it behind his back, and tries to sneak it home with him. His parents make him put it back so it changes places frequently. I would let him have it but it's become a game now. J
The view from my front porch never gets old!
What do you see from your front porch?

ReplyDeleteThanks! I love that particular feeder because of the soda bottle look :)
DeleteI love your hummer feeder -- so pretty! And the sun flares -- oh my!
ReplyDeleteOriginally, I bought one for my in-laws but loved it so much I went back and got one for myself. I used manual mode to get the flares. I have been practicing over and over. Was SO tickled to get these. It took A LOT of tries :)
DeleteThe hummingbird shot is fantastic! I've never managed to get one close up. I love the flowers and sun flares, too!
ReplyDeleteI know! I couldn't believe it landed and just sat there! It was so exciting :)

DeleteDear Anne, once again your photos leave me in awe! How delightful to get pictures of the hummingbird and butterfly which turned out so beautiful and clear. Of course you won me over with the rose picture - I absolutely love it! :) And then the last two photos....WOW! They are incredible, sweet friend. Thanks for sharing your talent with us.

ReplyDeleteThanks! It was a perfect day and a blessing to glimpse a fraction of the beauty that God provides on a daily basis!
Deletethat is a cute and funny pinwheel story. Your photos are gorgeous++ and I have never seen such a beautiful hummingbird feeder, it was meant for photo taking maybe that little guy knew it :-).
ReplyDeletedit is wel heel leuk, de vijfde foto met de zon er zo mooi in vind ik geweldig.
ReplyDeleteLove the hummingbird photo. I have a picture with the little guy or gal just sitting on the metal stake relaxing. We don't have many hummingbirds here but we keep putting the feeders out hoping to get more each year. I think now that the cooler weather is here in my part of NY they have gone on to warmer climates.

ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful dose of beauty here!
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you that you got your chance at a hummingbird! She's absolutely lovely!
And the sun flare is awesome. That golden hour of sunlight is my favorite.
I saw a monarch butterfly in our yard yesterday - we have lots of cloaks & swallowtails, but I rarely see monarchs.. I ran to grab the camera, but of course it had fluttered away without ever stopping.
Beautiful post. So happy you captured such lovely images as the Swallowtail butterfly and the Sweet hummingbird. Also the awesome sun flare.
