Hey Y'all! It's been CrAzY busy (that might be a favorite phrase of mine) with our move to VA. Lots of life changes. We've become empty nesters after 32 years of having a child in the home. Well, actually WE had to leave home to get this way. ;-) Our youngest son is still living in our family home in NC with his cousin for a room mate. Oh yeah. Two young men on their own for the first time. Big changes ALL the way around!!!
I managed to dig out my camera in anticipation of last night's Super Moon and Lunar Eclipse. Well, too much cloud cover and high winds made it challenging to get a good shot. Add to that my own exhaustion and impatience, and needless to say the photos didn't come out too good. I didn't stay up late enough to get any of the eclipse but I honestly think it would have been solid clouds by then because we ended up getting rain again.
God's handiwork is beautiful despite my meager attempt to capture it! I know many folks got the perfect glimpse of the night sky. My husband and I enjoyed standing on our balcony overlooking the Chesapeake Bay and dreaming of all the adventures to come our way on this next step in our journey.
And then there are the gorgeous sunrises! I have always enjoyed seeing the sunrise over the foothills in NC and especially from our back deck that overlooked our chicken coop. Always a great way to start the morning, listening to the rooster crow and the 'girls' clucking away, letting me know they are giving me a gift (eggs). :)
I still have to pinch myself to believe that He moved us from the foothills of NC to the coast of VA. I honestly thought we would never move!
While I do miss my little hobby farm, now I get to hear the roar and power of the ocean, which always makes me stand in AWE of GOD and his great power!!! Long walks and combing for seashells is fast becoming a part of my day.
Matthew 4:19
And He said to them, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men."
My prayer is that the Lord will use my husband and I to be a beacon of light to all those we come in contact with. We are so thankful for our friends and family who have cheered us on!
As time permits, and more boxes get unpacked, I'll be back with some book reviews, giveaways, photography excursions and general life happenings.
Blessings from VA,
Our moon was "unavailable" last night due to clouds and rain. Your photos ate stunning...both of the moon and the sunset!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debby! A lot of folks didn't get a good view because of the rain. Apparently you could watch it live streaming on the internet! Who knew?!
DeleteThanks for stopping by today!
Oh Anne you have captured such nice photos of the moon. I should have been out there last night taking photos but my daughter was out there and I was just so tired to join her. Thanks for sharing your awesome photos.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your move.
Have a nice week.
Julie
Awww...thanks Julie! I was tired, too but a sweet friend messaged me (knowing how exhausted I was) to remind me to go take a look. I am so glad she did! Love & hugs, my friend!!!
DeleteYour photos really are beautiful, Anne. The clouds have a way of adding to the beauty.
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were out and enjoyed the time, but we too had cloud cover though it was beautiful.
My husband still took pictures with the time exposure and believe it or not, the camera captured great photos that the naked eye could not see.
We were pleased. :-)
Prayers are continued as you finish setting up home.
Hey Debbie, I hope you'll be posting your husband's pictures! I would love to see them. I've been working hard (maybe a little too hard yesterday, my back is killing me) to get things in some semblance of order. It's coming along nicely. Thanks for the prayers! {{hugs}}
DeleteGreetings Dear Anne, so glad you are happy and finding new adventures for you both. It was very beautiful seeing your sunrise...
ReplyDeleteRoxy xo
Thanks, Roxy! I appreciate you coming by today. I hope to get back to a regular blogging schedule soon. This year has been all over the place. :-) {{hugs}}
DeleteCongrats on your move, sounds like you went from one beautiful place to another. The pictures you took are wonderful I think you captured it beautifully as well as the lovely sunset. Thanks for dropping by my blog. I sadly don't live in that part of the country I was still sharing pictures from my vacation.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Connie! I think vacation pics can be shared any time of year. :)
DeleteI love your photos Anne. God's creation is so beautiful. I adore the ocean too and could listen to it everyday! We live on the west coast of British Columbia and we often go to the beach just to watch the waves. : )
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all the inspiring Scriptures too. They encouraged me today.
Hey Cathy, Thanks for the kind words about my photos, and the Scriptures. I'm glad you were encouraged. I didn't realize we are on opposite sides of the continent. I bet you get some gigantic waves!
DeleteAnne, thank you for visiting my blog. Your moon pictures are so beautiful! Congratulations on your move. We just moved to NC from NJ/CA. We have driven through VA many times and it looks like a lovely place to live.
ReplyDeleteHi Gina, Welcome to NC!!! We still have our hobby farm and plan to retire there some day. VA is gorgeous from coast to mountains. Truly a beautiful part of our country. Thanks for coming by and following thru GFC. I appreciate it!
DeleteYour photos turned out beautiful. I enjoyed a clear view, but poor photos.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Laura!
DeleteThank you for visiting my blog earlier. Thanks too for the suggestion which I appreciate and have enlarged the photos.
ReplyDeleteYour photos of sunset are awesome and the moon is fantastic too!
I was looking at the moon and was struck afresh by the wonder of Gods creation and even that He would create a moon for light at night!
Hope you visit again soon! I am glad to follow now!

Gazing at God's wonderful creation just never gets old, does it, Melanie?! Thanks for stopping by and taking time to leave a comment. :)
DeleteLovely post! The sunrise is absolutely gorgeous, and the clouds made your shots of the moon pretty interesting imo! Nice captures.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Bethany! Hope you have a good weekend coming up. We're under a hurricane warning! :(
DeleteYour photos turned out so great, Anne! I went out several times to view the moon, but it was quite cloudy here in Texas, too.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful about your move to VA, from NC. Blessings are sent your way for you and your hubby. I'm sure you will be a "beacon of light" for all those you will come to know.
Thank you for your kind visit to my blog.
Hey Kitty, I heard a lot of folks couldn't see it because of cloud cover but that NASA streamed it online. I haven't watched it yet. If you think about it, pray for us as we are right in the path of Hurricane Joaquin, if he decides to come ashore in VA! If not, we are still expected to have hurricane force winds and lots of rain and flooding. :(
DeleteAnne, you really got some great shots of the moon despite the cloud cover! I am so happy to have met you, and hope to visit with you more. I really enjoyed your post, and although I don't have time to find out all about your move, I can assure you that you will love living by the ocean, but I just hope this hurricane passes you on up! Praying in Jesus name for that! Take care, my dear new friend :)
