A writer all her life, Charlotte published her first novel, Jane Eyre, in 1847 under the manly pseudonym Currer Bell. Though controversial in its criticism of society’s treatment of impoverished women, the book was an immediate hit. (click here to read more)
Her novel, Jane Eyre, has seen many adaptations through the years and a new one came out this year. I can't wait to see it. This has always been one of my favorite movies.
The first adaptation I ever saw was with Joan Fontaine and Orson Wells.
Seeing it in black & white is so dramatic!
.
Without having seen the new one, my favorite out of them all is with Toby Stephens and Ruth Wilson.
Now to talk my husband into buying the new one :)
Sounds like a good Mother's Day gift to me.
Have a great day in the Lord!
She is an amazing talent! :O)
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites too!! Read the book first and I think I have almost every movie of Jane Eyre!!
ReplyDeleteOh Yes! Wonderful talent. I read the book when I was a very young girl, and then saw the b&w movie. I have watched them all at one time or another :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, not my favorite author/books, but she had talent. Nobody writes like that anymore.
ReplyDeleteOH! I am a FAILURE at motherhood!!! My daughter doesn't like Charlotte Bronte/Jane Eyre?!? Well, not everyone has good taste like us Eyreites ;) ♥ you anyway :)
