It is so annoying to read a really great blog post, write a comment, hit post and then see something like this...
Talk about frustrating!!! On most occasions I will just NOT leave a comment, or I have to keep hitting the little refresh icon until I get one I can easily decipher. If you MUST insist on verifying comments, just use comment moderation. I ditched all those options and have had no problem with spam comments being posted!
For an easy tutorial on how to go about disabling your word verification, click here. Even if you have disabled it in the past, since the new updates to blogger recently, you'll probably have to go back and re-do it.
Have a great day in the Lord!
The google captchas are the hardest! I do get spam, but have made it so my older post comments require manual approval in blogger. I still have spammers try to sneak a comment in on the newer posts, but I usually catch them as soon as they post and then report it as spam delete the comment. Most spam comments get marked as spam in google, but a few get through here and there. Typically for me they are just foreign web design sites trying to get a back link, lol :)
ReplyDeleteHi Susan, Thanks for taking time to come by and leave a comment. Maybe I'm not well-known enough to get spam on here yet ;)
DeleteIt's awful. I so agree
ReplyDeleteHey Lisa, I've noticed it popping up everywhere now, even on blogs that didn't have it before. A few of my friends said they didn't even know it was on their blogs! We don't usually leave ourselves comments :)
DeleteArgh. Guilty. *sheepish grin*
ReplyDeleteBut you're right, it's unnecessary if I just use comment moderation. I'll give it a go and see what happens.
No guilt! I didn't realize it was on mine until a friend pointed it out :)
Deletei know, i really don't have problems with spam and when i do it is usually on old posts, which i do have older posts set for "blog owner approval" just so i know when someone comes by to visit :)
ReplyDeletethis new word verification is so annoying and when they switched to it, it automatically set as default on my blog...i had no idea i even had it till someone mentioned it to me!
I think that happened to just about everybody, Tanya. And until someone says something, we have no idea it's there. Thanks for coming by!
DeleteOh, I HEAR YA!!
ReplyDeleteI have cataracts. They are not at the point yet where my ophthalmologist will remove them but it is getting harder and harder for me to decipher those word verification things. I have not (so far) had much trouble with spam on my blog. I always get the comment in an e-mail when it publishes on a post and have just recently had to delete one but it was not a big deal. If I start getting lots of them, I'll just change to comment moderation. I've got an old Wordpress blog that I have left up, and I just turned comments off on it, since I'm not posting on it anymore.
