Historical fiction is my favorite genre to read because I love learning about history in a non-textbookie way, investing in the lives of the characters, and living out history right along with them. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win these two books!! ~Alison Boss

Yes! Love that word -- non-textbookie -- haha!!! Same for me. :-)
DeleteI definitely prefer learning about historical places and events through the eyes and ears of a story . . . makes it much fun!
DeleteI am the classic reader who will read the back of cereal boxes if there's nothing else handy and I enjoy many genres, especially historical fiction. I have always loved history but historical fiction allows me to keep learning as I satisfy my need to read.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway.

Good luck in the giveaway! These are two outstanding stories and two of my personal favorite time periods in American history.
DeleteI love learning about interesting times in history. I’ve learned far more from fiction than I learned in school...and so much interesting historical detail, too! Following GFC ewe_r_merritt at yahoo dot com
ReplyDeleteSame here. I remember so much more of what I read in a story . . . I guess it becomes personal.
DeleteI enjoy the inner strength the people have in living then and how 'usually' everyone helps each other. I know it was a different time and the hard work they had to do was normal, we have gotten 'spoiled' with all of the conveniences we have now, don't get me wrong I definitely appreciated the conveniences especially air conditioning in the summer, central heat in the winter, etc.
ReplyDeleteI already follow you by GFC.

Great point . . . I always feel like Oz's scarecrow; no courage . . . after reading stories like these.
DeleteI have always loved historical fiction, mostly because I always feel that I learn something when reading it. There are so many parts of history I know little about.

DeleteIsn't it the truth? The more I read, the more I want to read!
DeleteHistorical fiction is one of my favorite genres, because I always learn things about the time period the books are set in. It's fun to imagine what life was like back then.

Yes, imagine . . . . . oftentimes the books that I love the most? . . . . I am glad that I don't have to actually live out those stories! Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteI enjoy reading historical fiction because they are fascinating.
ReplyDeletepsalm103and138atgmaildotcom
Absolutely! I totally agree.
DeleteHistorical fiction is an interesting way to learn about the past in a personal relationship way. rw620 AT aol DOT com
ReplyDeleteA fellow North Carolinian! We have lots of history in our state, don't we? Good luck in the giveaway!
DeleteI love to learn about history through reading historical fiction. It's so interesting to learn about times that are so different than the way we live now.
ReplyDeletepmkellogg56[at]gmail[dot]com
I couldn't agree more. The older I become, the more precious history becomes. It makes me wonder.
DeleteI love historical fiction because it feels like being in another time period temporarily, plus I can learn some history. My email is iwant2save34 at gmail dot com. Followed on GFC as Beautyinthebinding. :)
ReplyDeleteYes . . . temporarily, being the key word. As much as I love stepping into the past, I generally become more thankful that I live in the present.
ReplyDeleteI like historical fiction because I get to learn something while I read. It makes me want to google stuff!
