The Last...

Autumn leaves have fallen to the ground.

 

I was pleased to capture these glorious reds in the setting sun.

Even Pine needles look good when the sun is going down :)

I know, I know...

I need to get some book reviews written and posted. I am working on them. 

But for today, I want to share two more photos.

We're finally seeing some autumn color in town.

Yesterday we had an amazing storm pass by and just miss us. I think the trees look so pretty against the stormy sky.

Well, I am off to work on book stuff.

Easy to make Autumn or Thanksgiving Wreath

I am always late getting a seasonally appropriate wreath made for the front door. This year is no exception. With less than a week to go before Thanksgiving, it may seem useless to even make one. However, I couldn't pass up an 80% off sale of all autumn florals at Hobby Lobby! I unpinned the cloth flowers off my basic wreath that is made from a foam circle and burlap to get it ready for a new look.

While I was at HL, I couldn't pass up this awesome purple hot glue gun! 

I needed a new one anyway :)

I snipped apart some of the floral spray pieces to make it easier to handle and attach to the wreath.

I'm quite fond of mums and sunflowers. 

And I loved the acorns and apple in this particular spray.

Even though these beautiful flowers are silk, they still bring a smile to my face. 

Sunflowers and Mums breath warmth and hospitality!

I tried to follow pretty closely the way they were pre-arranged on the spray when I glued them down. I think I need a few more leaves around the bottom but overall I am quite satisfied. 

Floral arranging of any kind is not my forte'. My daughter, on the other hand, is very good at making wreaths. Maybe I will showcase some of her work in December.

Tuesday Muse

Update on my surgery: Everything went well but there was more damage than expected. I now have a metal plate and two pins holding my heel bone together. Apparently there are large incisions on both sides of my foot that will leave a lot of scaring. No weight bearing on that leg for 10 weeks seems like an eternity but today marks one week, so only 9 to go!

Pain meds work some but not as effective as I thought they would be. They make me unbelievably loopy and woozy. I'm not able to stay on the computer for long, or do anything else for that matter, before I am dozing off or holding my head over the trash can. Yeah, it ain't pretty but the doctor thinks I will have a successful recovery and be able to walk normally in about 9-12 months. Here's hoping and praying he is right!

Thanks for all the prayers and well wishes. I would love to be able to get around to each individual blog and leave comments on your gorgeous images but I don't know that I will be able to this week.

Autumn is my favorite time of year! I know I have said this before but I am thoroughly enjoying the cooler temps and adding the comfy old quilt to the bed :) It's snuggle weather! 

My son mentioned he is ready for some Russian Tea....maybe I can talk him into making some this weekend. 

What's your favorite beverage when the weather starts to turn cooler? I bet some of y'all are getting close to having some snow, huh?

wait for it...

Pumpkin Spider!

It's scientific name is 

Araneus marmoreus - Marbled Orb Weaver.

They are venomous.

This one bit my husband. Considering it was camouflaged in the leaves, it is not a surprise. Thankfully, it was a dry bite and he is fine....so far. 

It totally creeps me out! Right now, it's housed in a canning jar awaiting its fate. Wonder what it will be?
