I am always late getting a seasonally appropriate wreath made for the front door. This year is no exception. With less than a week to go before Thanksgiving, it may seem useless to even make one. However, I couldn't pass up an 80% off sale of all autumn florals at Hobby Lobby! I unpinned the cloth flowers off my basic wreath that is made from a foam circle and burlap to get it ready for a new look.
While I was at HL, I couldn't pass up this awesome purple hot glue gun!
I needed a new one anyway :)
I snipped apart some of the floral spray pieces to make it easier to handle and attach to the wreath.
I'm quite fond of mums and sunflowers.
And I loved the acorns and apple in this particular spray.
Even though these beautiful flowers are silk, they still bring a smile to my face.
Sunflowers and Mums breath warmth and hospitality!
I tried to follow pretty closely the way they were pre-arranged on the spray when I glued them down. I think I need a few more leaves around the bottom but overall I am quite satisfied.
Floral arranging of any kind is not my forte'. My daughter, on the other hand, is very good at making wreaths. Maybe I will showcase some of her work in December.
Do you make your own wreaths or buy them ready-made?
Have a blessed day in the Lord!

What beautiful colours in your wreath.
ReplyDeleteI always make one at Christmas , using fresh greenery.
Thank you, Elizabeth! I hope you post some pictures of your wreath on your blog! I would love to see it. I have a pre-made for the front door but I'm thinking about making one to hang over the fireplace this year.
DeleteI love crafting ... but I cannot make a decent looking wreath to save my life!
ReplyDeleteYou, on the other hand, have done a fine job!
Have an awesome weekend!

Hi Diane, Thank you for the kind words! I wish I was a little more crafty. I can follow patterns but to create my own design...not so much :) Have a great weekend!
DeleteYou did a great job! That is so pretty. I have some grape vine wreaths that my late father made. I like to decorate them with different things.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Tina! After I was finished, I thought it would have been prettier on a grapevine wreath. Maybe next year :)
DeletePrachtig wat een hele mooie hobby. het ziet er ook geweldig uit.
ReplyDeleteThanks! It's fun and I love flowers, even silk ones :) Have a great weekend!
DeleteI used to make my own but now we don't hang door wreaths -perhaps I should though, this one is very lovely.
ReplyDeleteAwww...Thank you, Lynn! I didn't always have a wreath on the door but I try to have one on there all the time now. I think it makes our place look more inviting.
DeleteI've always loved the beauty of sunflowers! I really like the added touch of feathers in your wreath, too! Very pretty! Definitely worth making, even if it's just for a week....plus with them being silk, you can use it in the autumns to come! Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!

ReplyDeleteI like it!!! I use to make my own and love making crafts, but haven't made a door wreath in a while. Thanks for stopping by and visiting me and leaving a comment. Always love when I get visitors. Have a great Thanksgiving. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, and I forgot to say I love all the photos you shared. I did the same not long ago and replaced my glue gun (I had two that I'd had for years and year, and they still worked but took forever to warm up).
