Psalm 143:8
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life.
Trust and Obey
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
Refrain
Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey.
Not a burden we bear, not a sorrow we share,
But our toil He doth richly repay;
Not a grief or a loss, not a frown or a cross,
But is blessed if we trust and obey.
But we never can prove the delights of His love
Until all on the altar we lay;
For the favor He shows, for the joy He bestows,
Are for them who will trust and obey.
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey.
From CyberHymnal.org:
This song gives a simple, clear explanation of living the Christian life. The title expression was used in a testimony meeting, following an evangelistic crusade in Brockton, Massachusetts, by Dwight L. Moody. A young man stood to speak, and it soon became clear he knew little Christian doctrine. But he finished by saying, “I’m not quite sure—but I’m going to trust, and I’m going to obey.” Daniel Towner, who was in the meeting, jotted down the words, and gave them to John Sammis, who developed the lyrics from them.
This rendition of such a lovely hymn reminded me once again of my Granny,
who I talked about in my Random 5 Friday post. Her radio was set to one station,
a Christian radio station, and she played it all day. The music sounded
just like what was played in her church on Sunday mornings.
Another precious memory to reflect upon today.
Have a blessed Sabbath!

Beautiful post! Thank you for reminding me of that old hymn! It amazes me how the words to the hymns rooted in us. I included the words to one in my post on Friday. Thank you for reminding me to trust Him always - "for there's no other way". Truly.
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed Sunday!

Wonderful post, sweet friend! I find it so neat that you and I both did posts on trust - God is amazing :) I thoroughly enjoyed my time on your blog and it's always a joy to visit you. Also, I love the quote from Corrie ten Boom - AMEN! Hugs to you, Anne.
ReplyDeleteI endogeenisestä hearing the song ~ it's long Time since I've attended an English speaking service and heard this hymn! Your verse and the quote are so encouraging (I need to write the quote down at once) ... In our weakness His strength becomes so visible!
ReplyDeleteI love the quote by Corrie and so nice to be reminded of this hymn..as I trust and obey...
ReplyDeleteLove this! A gorgeous image and critical reminder to place all our trust in God. I've got to read some of Corrie ten Boom's works. She is full of wisdom. Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYour Granny had the right idea, to keep her radio on that one channel. Hymns are SO powerful, when we quote them, that is sometimes all that needs to be said. A favorite refrain of mine from a hymn is "the God of angel armies is always by my side."
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely memories of your Granny. I've been remembering mine a lot lately.
