Two Book Giveaway ~ Deliver Me from Evil & Special Delivery by KathiMacias

I know y'all are just loving that Judy Burgi is on board here. She's offered her two books to ONE WINNER!

You heard right...Two Books, One Winner!

Deliver Me from Evil introduces readers to Mara, an eighteen-year-old girl who has been enslaved for nearly ten years, having been sold by her parents in Mexico and then smuggled across the border into San Diego where she was forced into sexual slavery. Readers will also meet 18-year-old, Bible-college-bound Jonathan and his 16-year-old sister, Leah, whose paths cross Mara?'s and who become involved in her dramatic rescue. Interwoven between the stories of Mara, Jonathan, and Leah is the heartbreaking story of another young woman in captivity in the Golden Triangle of Thailand, whose past life mysteriously connects to the young people in San Diego.

"Deliver Me From Evil" (Review by Judy Burgi) - Not A Book To Be Taken Lightly

Deliver Me from Evil is a very powerful book about the horrors of sexual trafficking. This story focus's around children of very young ages. It is a disturbing and heart breaking book to read to say the least. I did not enjoy it for reading pleasure. It opened my eyes to the very detestable evil that is lurking out there. I at one point wondered if I wanted to read on. While I know this is fiction, there are real live scenarios of this happening in our very own back yard right now.

In book two of the Freedom series readers find Mara fighting against her attraction to Bible college student Jonathan Flannery even while wrestling with risking her own precarious safety to become involved in the rescue of another girl who is pregnant and desperately wants to escape her captors and save her own life, as well as her child s. Halfway around the world in a brothel in Thailand, a young girl is rescued with the promise of being reunited with her younger sister who was adopted by an interracial couple in the States, friends of Jonathan?'s family. Meanwhile, Jefe Mara?'s uncle, who held her as a sex slave in his brothel in San Diego for years seeks revenge for Mara?'s testimony that put him behind bars for life. Will his underworld connections be successful in kidnapping and killing the girl who believes she has finally won her freedom?

"Special Delivery" (Review by Judy Burgi) – Another Powerful Read!

Special Delivery picks up with some of the characters from “Deliver Me From Evil.  We follow a young lady Mara who has the opportunity to start living a life free from her captors.  Is she truly free?  The author also brings our attention to Lawan just a slip of a girl at the tender age of 10.  This girl suffers a lot of horror and pain at the hands of her captor.  What will become of her?  Then we have a 14 year old named Francesca who has been shown no mercy by the men who come and pay for her services.  Will she ever be reunited with her family?

Author Kathi Macias paints for us a picture of what human trafficking is like.  She doesn’t sugar coat it.  We read about the horrors of it; the evilness of it; Satan working at his best.

I went through a gamut of emotions while reading this book.  First you hope that this can’t possibly be true but deep down you know that it is happening for real in our country as well as others.  I felt angry, great sadness and even happiness when I finally saw some hope in the lives of some of these characters. This hope arrived through rescuers and interventions.  There are people out there who truly care.

Thank you Kathi for bringing God into your books.  We always have hope through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  Without that hope we have nothing.

I am looking forward to reading the next book in this Freedom Series called “The Deliverer.”

I am honored Kathi that you sent me this book to read.  You didn’t ask for a review of it.  I am reviewing it on my own because I want people to be aware of your books and the impact that they have made in my life.  Blessings my friend!

To be entered, leave a comment thanking Judy for her generosity.

  2. Thank you so much for posting this honest yet disturbing assessment of the first two books in the Freedom series. This has been a very difficult series of books to research and write, but there are countless victims out there praying for someone to come and rescue them. Together we can make a difference. Abolition!

  5. Thank you for the giveaway of these two books. This is a subject that we are hearing a lot about being that I live close to the border of Mexico. It is a topic that more people should know more about since it is happening in the backyard of too many of us.

  6. Both these books are on my wishlist. I would LOVE to win them. I have been blessed with the amazing opportunity to lead worship with a group of girls who have been rescued from trafficking. I haven't started yet, as the doors have yet to open. This is a new ministry called The Daughter Project in Northwest Ohio.

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. Hello P.T.,

I'm sure that many hours must be spent in prayer when researching this subject. Regretfully, we live in a fallen world where sin abounds. Our prayers must be for the captors as well, that they would come to Christ! I know it sounds like a difficult thing to do, but God is able!!! Thank you for coming by and entering.

  27. Thank you for featuring these two books on your website and also a big thank you to Judy for offering them. I have wanted to read Kathy's work for a while now and these sound like very good books. I have heard about these kinds of things happening in this country, but have no idea exactly where, maybe it is right under my nose, but I have often wondered when young girls or women go missing if this is not where they are placed and why no one finds them. It is hard to believe it happens in America, but there is so much evil out there. Thank you Kathy for writing books on this subject to make us more aware of what is happening in our own backyard.

    God's Blessings,
    Lori

  62. I think that these two books are the only ones that Kathi Macias has written that I don't already own and I would love to add them to my collection also. Kathi always writes about topics that are not easy to read. She does an outstanding job of bringing issues to our awareness and makes us want to be a part of the solution. Her books stay with you long after you have finished reading them.

Thanks for the opportunity to win!
