~ My favorite cup for tea ~

Everyone has a favorite cup, right?

Whether it be a dainty china tea cup,

Trash to Treasure

a hearty ceramic mug,

a family heirloom,

Teacups & Scrapbooking

or one that just fits your personality,

Rooster ♥ Teacup Tuesday

you know you have one.

Admit it.

I do.

Isn't she a beauty?

All I know about her history is that she's from England.

But my mom bought this cup long years ago. I don't remember it not being in her cabinet. This is the one I always used when I visited her home. It brings to mind early mornings and late nights spent in conversation on my mom's porch, or curled up in the living room, talking and enjoying a hot cup coffee or tea, depending on the time of day.
Catching up on life and all its joys & sorrows.
So today, I share not a spectacularly fragile piece of china, but a precious piece that evokes memories of my mom.
I wish she was here to sit with once again!
It's only used for tea now, as that cocky rooster cup above is my go to for coffee.
Yes, pun intended ;)

What kind of cup is your favorite to use? Dainty, hearty, or just plain fun?

Thanks for coming by!
Have a great day in the Lord!

  1. Hello Anne,
What a pretty cup! I have no idea who the maker is. It reminds me of Burleigh and it's very pretty whoever made it. The best part though is that it brings to mind such lovely memories of your mom.
My favourite cup is not a dainty china cup but something similar to yours. A wee bit heavier. I like the fine china for special occasions although I do admit that tea always tastes better in a china cup. Thank you for sharing your special cup with us and thank you for coming to my party. Have a beautiful day.

    Blessings,
    Sandi

  2. Sandi, Thank you for that information, even if it isn't an exact match at least it gives me a place to start my search :)

I agree, tea is always better in the finer cups!

    1. Yes, sweetie, it is! And one day it will be yours and no longer sit on my shelf. River will be the one drinking from it, saying it belonged to her great grandmother and her Nonna :)

  5. Hi Anne,
The name of the pattern is "Bermuda Blue" and it is made by Churchill. I discovered it in Reading England and was able to bring back a few pieces. Since then, I gathered more from Ebay and now almost have a complete set for 12 place settings.
To see some of my set on display, please check the link below:

  7. What a pretty cup, I think I have a plate that looks like it matches, have to check it out in the morning. I have a set of china mugs by Royal Doulton from the Brambly Hedge collection, a summer, fall, winter and spring got them in 1983 from my sister in law, I gave her the same set and they are our favourites. Every night we have a cup of tea and use one of them. If I keep this up -these late nights we are going to need a midnight blog. Thank you for sharing your fav. it is very pretty...

  9. Hi Anne, I have favorites for sure, but I do love mugs for my tea more than cups and saucers. Polka dots seem to make me happy for some reason. I love the ones you shared with us.

  10. Hello Anne,
What a lovely post about favourite cups!
Yours is really a beauty and brings good memories, too, which makes it unique!
I've got a favourite mug to use everyday for white coffee, decorated with an imitation of embroidery in pink :) but for tea I use different cups, it depends on the mood or the company...

  14. Such a nice blog, Anne. I enjoy seeing your creativity. Love that blue and white cup and so glad it has special memories for you, makes it extra nice. I don't really have a favorite, just whatever strikes my mood. But I love having my tea in one of my heirloom teacups.
